Pre-Drywall Meeting

We had our pre-drywall meeting today, bright and early at 8am!

My shift at work starts at 9:30am so we had to do this quickly and our PM made it happen and finished right on time for me to race to work.

Everything went well, we have been to the house so many times so our PM didn't have to go through the basics.  We walked every room of the house and had all of our questions answered, which weren't many to begin with.  Little things like asking about the dishwasher being discontinued and "hey, what's that hole in the ceiling?"

Our awesome PM and my husband in the master bedroom.

As we were finishing up, our contractor who will be installing the extra insulation in the house showed up, perfect timing.  We have a small window of time to get anything else we want between the studs before drywall goes up so the extra insulation went up today.

Lots of extra insulation to make this house nice and quiet!

The best part of today, though, was that we found out our closing date!

August 2nd!

It's so exciting to have a countdown now!  I can't believe how close that date is.  Looking forward to finally having a home again!

  1. Yaaaay! So excited for you! Our pre-drywall meeting was just set for next Wednesday. Hopefully, we'll be right behind you.
Can you tell me more about the extra insulation? We planned on coming in to do the exterior garage walls, and maybe some sound-proofing in the laundry room. What did you do? And can you provide a ballpark on cost for the insulation packs?

    1. We had a contractor do it for us, partly because of time and partly because we wanted to make sure it was done right. He calculated his price based on square footage, so it's materials and labor included for ours, not sure what the packs cost individually.

We had the laundry room completely insulated and then did the ceiling in the family room and kitchen, also had the basement ceiling done, basically the square footage of the kitchen and morning room above since that will be hardwood and will be loud. The cost for all of that was $2100. If you do it yourself it will obviously be cheaper but we couldn't take the time off to do it.

      Good luck!

  2. Hooray for closing dates! I am glad you feel like yours is so close. July 26th seems SOOOO far away to us, haha!!
And glad your pre-drywall went well. Ours was pretty much the same since we have been in the house SO much as it's gone up

    1. Considering we weren't even thinking of buying a new house in February, this is fast! I've also seen a lot of other builders take much much longer to build houses so this feels super fast. Going from not thinking of moving to selling our place and building a new one in 6 months is quick :)
